|
|
Throttle Body Fuel Injection or TBI systems are configured
in several different forms depending upon your needs,
wants, and budget. Available as a fully emissions capable
to a basic functional unit. If you are looking for the
most economical way to replace that old carburetor, these
systems are for you. Provides great starts, drivability,
and fuel economy.
AFI uses the highest quality thin wall high temperature
wire available today. Their harnesses are built with full
protection from the elements using state of the art
weatherpak connectors. All harnesses have a very simple 3
wire hook up (battery, ignition and ground) plus EFI
items, also includes a power and fuel pump relay.
These Do-It-Yourself systems are for those who already
have some of the main components for fuel injection such
as the throttle body, ecm, sensors, and distributor.
Here is what your Do It Yourself kit will include:
- Complete wiring harness
- AFI specially calibrated chip
- Adapter plate, gaskets, hardware
- External Electric fuel pump with filter
- Fuel pump relay
- Power relay
- Check engine indicator
- Installation instructions
Choose your engine size, harness length desired, distributor
connection setup to be used, throttle body adapter plate needed, and any other project
comments(such as cam specs, transmission, axle
ratio, etc) when ordering.
Helpful Ordering Tips -
Harness Length - Most Scout 80/800 and Scout II's will
work fine with the standard 30" length harness. For
Travelall's and Pick-ups we suggest that you buy the 48" long
harness. If you plan on putting the ECM(computer) in a
more distant spot than you may want to upgrade to the 96"
long harness.
Intake Adapter - If you are buying a kit for an IH 152/196
4cyl engine then you will need a 1bbl adapter.
AMC 232/258 6cyl engines will use either a 1bbl or 2bbl
adapter depending on which intake manifold your engine has. IH 266/304/345/392 and AMC 401 V8 engines will
use either a 2bbl adapter or 4bbl squarebore or spreadbore
adapter. If choosing a 2bbl adapter $80 will be added to
your order. You need to know which adapter your application
will require before ordering.
Distributor Connection - There are several different ways
you can go with when it comes to distributors for your fuel
injection system. If you want to retain your stock
electronic ignition distributor than all that you will require is a tach
filter. HEI distributors with the coil in the cap will
also require a tach filter unless they are being converted
over for fuel injection use. MSD triggers and small body HEI units
with external coil can be plugged right into the system.
When investing in a fuel injection system it is always
best to use a distributor set-up for fuel injection in
order to take advantage of both fuel and spark control.
Project Comments - When ordering its best to tell us as
much info as possible about your project so we can setup
the chip as close as possible first time out. The things we need
to know are - Vehicle, 2 or 4 wheel drive, camshaft specfications,
is it air conditioned, transmission, axle ratio, tire size and distributor being
used. We also want to know if you plan on using a speed sensor or EGR on your project.
Also, let us know if you plan on some heavy towing.
